Partnerships and paying it forward

Dear QUT graduate,

Welcome to the May edition of the QUT alumni newsletter. This month we’re looking at partnerships and paying it forward – a theme that closely aligns with my career and where I am today.

Through a partnership with another QUT alumnus I founded Skedulo – a company that creates cloud-based software to help enterprises manage, schedule, dispatch, and support workers on the go. As the co-founder and CEO, it’s been exciting to watch a small Brisbane tech start-up transform into a global business with 170 employees in offices worldwide, with our main base now in San Francisco. This transformation was made possible through partnering with investors and technology advisors who saw the impact of enabling mobile and deskless workforces.

I’m also proud of how Skedulo has been able to give back to the community. We have done this by donating company technology and employee time in support of communities and programs, and volunteering initiatives serving local parks, homeless shelters and orphanages as part of our broader Skedulo Heart program.

More recently, Skedulo partnered with QUT to fund one of the 2022 Budding Entrepreneur Scholarships for a student from a background under-represented in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. It’s a privilege to help QUT support budding student entrepreneurs and engage their passion for entrepreneurial action.

If you would like to partner with QUT in making a difference in the lives of others, I encourage you to consider ‘imagining what’s next’ on Wednesday 25 May for QUT Giving Day. It’s a wonderful opportunity to pay it forward by supporting world-changing projects or becoming a Giving Day ambassador to help spread the word with your networks.

Matt Fairhurst BBus(Marketing)
