The iconic Australian koala is being decimated by Chlamydia, a preventable disease, that causes infertility and blindness. Koalas are now considered endangered in QLD, NSW and ACT.
Led by Professor Ken Beagley, a team of QUT researchers has successfully trialled a chlamydia vaccine at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
To be truly effective, the vaccine now needs to be registered. Registration would allow the vaccine to be widely distributed and used by any vet in Australia who treats koalas. This would assist with rebuilding the koala population in Queensland and across the country.
Your donation will enable QUT research to have a real-world impact by saving the koala for future generations.
