Happy #EarthDay! 🌏 Today, QUT celebrates our planet and efforts in shaping sustainable spaces for generations to come. From creating innovative green spaces to sustainable infrastructure, our collective efforts are driving positive change for the environment. Associate Professor Thomas Rainey from QUT Engineering, Architecture and Built Environment is among our leading academics contributing to this change through research projects based on the transformative power of plastic recycling and repurposing. By incorporating recycled plastics into construction materials or consumer goods, we're not only reducing waste but also minimising our environmental footprint. "I'm a chemical engineer with a passion for creating consumer products from renewable materials, particularly pulp and paper type products, and their subsequent processing and recycling. My research investigates renewable and sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics in the circular economy." #EarthDay2024 #SustainableEngineering #PlasticTransformation #QUTEngineering
