Dear QUT graduate
I recently had the pleasure of attending the 2022 QUT Outstanding Alumni Awards ceremony, which recognises graduates for their exceptional achievements in industry and contributions in their communities. As a 2021 award recipient, it was a privilege to hear the amazing stories from this year’s award winners and see how they are making a real impact in the world. The presentation left me feeling inspired and excited about our future.
This month, we’re celebrating our alumni and the QUT community members doing incredible things around Australia and internationally. These inspiring individuals include business leaders and entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, community leaders and artists.
Whilst no one sets out to achieve everything just for an accolade, having your work recognised, especially amongst peers, is an honour. Last year I was awarded an Outstanding Alumni Award in recognition of my efforts as the CEO and owner of AIS Water. After immigrating to Australia with no English and no social networks, I founded and created this Brisbane-based water disinfection company which is now exporting a unique water saving technology to over 55 countries around the world. My mission is to save and enhance life through greater access to water and in doing so, advance people, innovation and the common good. So, as this month’s guest editor, I am thrilled to recognise and celebrate the achievements of others in the QUT community who are achieving great things in the world.
Please join me as we honour the accomplishments and success stories of QUT alumni and our community in this edition.
