Alumni newsletter

Careers, digital economy and the new world

Dear QUT graduate,

Welcome to the first edition of the 2022 QUT alumni newsletter. As the Founder and CEO of Urban List, Australia and New Zealand’s largest independent media company, and a fellow QUT alumnus, I am proud to be this edition’s guest editor. This month’s newsletter focuses on careers in the age of disruption, the digital economy, and the new world.

Gone are the days that people stay in one job or field their entire life. Now, an exciting array of options are available to us as employees, business owners, and consumers. The way we recognise problems, search for information and navigate careers has changed, and driving it all is the digital economy, cultural trends and the new players changing old markets.

As an entrepreneur who built an online business from their bedroom, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities of building a career in the new world. I invite you to explore career events, opportunities to upskill, and inspiring stories in this month’s newsletter.

Your guest editor,

Susannah George (BMassComn)
Founder of Urban List, 2021 QUT Outstanding Entrepreneurial Alumnus
