Going global: it's a small world

Dear QUT graduate,

With COVID-19 becoming endemic to much of the world, focus is returning to international business and travel as people and organisations look forward to reconnecting, sharing and growing. Unsurprisingly, workers and organisations are now mobilising to capitalise on opportunities born out of the pandemic’s recovery, particularly globally.

This month’s issue will explore how going global has been redefined, and the international connections QUT has through its alumni, research, courses and partnerships. With more options than ever to work remotely, study virtually, and do business digitally, people are increasingly empowered to upgrade their skills and knowledge, build relationships, and work from anywhere.

As a QUT alumnus who graduated in business and creative industries, my springboard to the global scene was through an advertising agency with international offices, which I leveraged to work in several regions across the world. During this time, I also co-founded a travel content brand and production company, developing destination storytelling videos. Now, I’m based in the Netherlands as Social & Content Lead at OLIVER Agency and have the flexibility to live and work remotely when desired.

The opportunities to go global are incredibly exciting, and I am thrilled to help share what’s possible for QUT alumni as this month’s feature.
